When the teddies fall out of favour, it might be time to rethink your child’s bedroom.

It’s the little things that let us know when our children are growing up.

The way they will happily give a once-worshipped toy to the tombola stall at the school fair. They way they might close their bedroom door and demand to be left alone - or else. And the way they suddenly produce a protective arm whenever little ones are around. A welcome but eerie change from all that relentless tormenting!

They may also decide to get rid of all those cuddly toys and hint at an upgrade to their bedroom accessories. Now that particular day is a very sad one indeed, but you must sigh and accept that the tide is against you!

So once you’ve relented and filled the attic with all their unwanted clutter, it is time to look with fresh eyes at how to re-dress the room for your little grown-up.

If you have already invested in Little Lucy Willow furniture, you’ll know that your chosen collection will remain the perfect backdrop to your teen’s room as it did your toddler’s. So no need for an upgrade there…

But there are plenty more things to consider in order to transform their bedroom from a child’s den to a fully fledged haven of personal space.

  • A fresh coat of paint might be in order to begin with; a muted, neutral tone to mark this new phase of maturity perhaps?

  • New lampshades and lamps, to soften the light, adding warmth to the room and accentuating its best features.

  • Introduce scatter cushions and maybe a throw, in place of all those cuddly toys!

  • Understated wall art or mirrors, to add interest, light and the feeling of space.

  • Invest in new bedding - without a fairy or a soldier in sight I’m afraid!

  • Add new matching pieces of furniture to your existing collection, such as a bedside table, or a bookcase. You might even be able to stretch to a desk now the room is devoid of all clutter...

With the right accessories and bedding, Little Lucy Willow bedroom furniture will see your toddler through to their teens and beyond. That is the one thing you’ll never have to part with.
