Neutral shades are ideal in creating a blank canvas upon which your child can splash their favourite colours of the moment using fabrics, wall art and soft furnishings.

Pastels and neutrals such as stone, greys, and multiple shades of white will add warmth to any space. Contrast with bolder colours on a feature wall if needs be, especially if the room is on the larger side.

There is no end to the design and variation of children’s bedroom furniture available but there aren’t that many companies whose collections are durable and hardwearing enough to withstand years of use.

Make sure you look past the aesthetics before making a purchase. Check each piece conforms to safety standards and is well made. 

When looking out for children’s furniture to invest in, go for something as timeless as possible. Look for clean lines and unfussy design. If you don’t want something too plain, opt for detail that will transcend fashions or fads.

Finally, consider a double bed if you have the space and your budget allows. You will no doubt reap the rewards for this in years to come!

It’s often the finishing touches that tend to make a room. Bedding, wall art and lighting are all crucial in completing the puzzle that will be your child’s perfect hideaway.

Here’s where their input comes to the fore, where their creative juices can be let loose, in the form of colours, shapes, patterns and fabrics.

Work out a colour scheme and start your search. Remember, bedding doesn’t have to mean just a duvet cover and pillow case either. Think throws, quilts, cushions and lots of them! Light up wall art is a great way to add interest while  providing comfort before bedtime as well.
