Pedometers at the ready! Walk into 2015 with Little Lucy Willow.

The grindstone is rolling again. Sigh. We have climbed aboard the good ship 2015, our keel is almost even and I am no longer feeling as bad.
It’s nice to have the house looking a bit tidy again, although the sentimental fool in me doesn’t half get sad when the last bauble is removed from the tree and put away for another 12 months. I can almost hear the Muppets Christmas Carol in my head as I’m packing the decorations away, recalling the laughter we had as we got them out.

Of course my selective memory conveniently excludes the arguments about who puts the fairy on top – plus my sweating brow as I grip the spikey trunk whilst the bottom is being sawed to oblivion. Who cares if it’s leaning 45 degrees, my arms, my arms!

So on with the task of resolutions and the like…Let’s see now, the usual no chocolate, no alcohol, no FUN did cross my mind but I’ve decided that life is just too short to be so flipping disciplined! I’m never going to be a catwalk model, I’m not training to be in the SAS and I don’t plan on going to a nudist camp any time soon, so it’s going to be a case of slow and steady for me. Less treats and a little more exercise which means I still have something to look forward to in this, the bleakest of months.

Talking of exercise, my pedometer has become a permanent fixture in my pocket and is certainly encouraging me to walk more. The handy little device has also sparked a little sibling banter. My competitive sister, who also got one for Christmas, has now got into the habit of texting me each evening with her step count. She has beaten me every day of course, but I console myself with the knowledge that she is most probably bending the truth a little (which I might have to start doing to preserve some self respect!) I shall keep you posted on my progress.

Good luck with all your resolutions – and getting a space on that gym car park come 7pm. Just leave it until March. It will be empty by then. Trust me.
