Well it’s finally all over…or has it only just begun?

You will either be reflecting on a great summer, bemoaning the start of term, or raising your arms to the heavens in thanks that you will finally get through an episode of Neighbours without interruption. For me it’s all three. But if the end of summer means feeling like the rug has been well and truly pulled from beneath your feet, then you must simply get a new one. A rug that is. And to help you on your way we are offering 10% off rugs throughout September. See, you feel better already.

Once you’ve powered through that last weekend of the holidays and the dreaded ‘Black Sunday’ it’s only a matter of hours before you’re over the threshold and into the old routine. I can’t say I mind. The humdrum of normality yields the greatest contentment for me. It’s when I’m safely floating on a mediocre plain of neither dizzying highs nor disastrous lows. It’s the time when I can start to plan, clear out and get the house in order. Whether it’s eking out all those pesky blades of grass trodden in by small bare feet over summer (I’m a neat freak remember), or unpacking the winter duvets ready for the impending chilly nights, I find each task strangely pleasurable as I prepare for the season ahead. Not that I’ve had a bad summer. I ticked a few of the mandatory school holiday boxes – craft, cooking and picnics in the park. I even managed a night in A&E thanks to the local monkey bars.

Luckily, my daughter’s arm wasn’t broken, just bruised. The disappointment I sensed upon this diagnosis was tempered by a now dog-eared paper sling. It’s been eventful.

Hopefully you won’t be too sad at leaving the holidays behind either and will be looking forward to a glorious autumn. So go on, dip your toe into a bed of hand tufted wool and browse our beautiful selection of rugs. It really would be rude not to.
